State Senator Jose Peralta has allocated $50,000 in state funds for the Emerald Isle Immigration Center based in Woodside.
The organization provides legal assistance and services to immigrants.
“It is vital that we help organizations that offer services to immigrants, especially under the current political landscape,” Peralta said. “We must ensure we protect our hard-working families and communities.”
The funds will support the organization’s services, including information on New Yorkers’ rights.
“The Emerald Isle Immigration Center is particularly grateful to the Senator for making funds available to us to do what we do best, and that is to help immigrants with any questions they may have about their immigration status, treat every case individually and provide the best path we can toward US citizenship,” said Siobhan Dennehy, executive director of Emerald Isle Immigration Center.
