In an effort to clean up the litter on the bike lanes at Skillman and 43rd avenues, a group of volunteers is organizing an event on Saturday, February 2 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Volunteers will meet at Lou Lodati Playground, located at 41-15 Skillman Avenue, to kick off the clean-up.

According to the cyclists, stretches of the protected bike lane have been hit with trash, particularly near the rail yards.

Yellow vests will be donated by Transportation Alternatives. Cleaning supplies like gloves, trash bags, trash barrels, brooms, shovels and rakes are being donated by the Jackson Heights Beautification Group.

Afterward, enjoy hot chocolate, courtesy of the organizers of this event.

The Department of Sanitation will pick up the full trash bags at the intersection of Skillman and 43rd avenues, near 33rd Street, at about 1:30 p.m.
