State Senator Jose Peralta joined Woodside on the Move, Burlington Coat Factory and Delta Airlines to collect nearly 2,000 coats.
As temperatures continue to drop, the coats will come in handy for needy families and individuals. They were donated to community and faith-based organizations.
The coat drive took place last week at Senator Peralta’s district office.
“Some of our families and neighbors cannot afford to buy winter coats as they struggle to make ends meet,” Peralta said. “We are trying to provide a winter jacket to those in need so they can keep warm during the winter months.”
Peralta has hosted a coat drive annually since 2011, when they collected just 250 coats.
Last year, nearly 1,700 coats were collected and distributed.
