The NYPD is looking for public assistance in locating four individuals in connection with a theft at Guitar Center. According to police, the four suspects entered the store – located at 34-17 48th St. – at about 7:13 p.m. on Dec. 21 and removed a Mac computer and an unspecified guitar before fleeing the scene.
The suspects are identified as:
• Female, black, approximately 5’5″, in her mid-20’s.
• Male, black, approximately 45 years-old wearing a winter hat.
• Male, black, approximately 30 years-old wearing a black baseball hat with a red brim.
• Male, black, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt.
Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call Crime stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime stoppers website at WWW.NYPDCRIMESTOPPERS.COM or by texting their tips to 274637 (CRIMES) then enter TIP577.
Sunnyside residents and community leaders joined together on Dec. 8 to celebrate the 6th annual Skillman Avenue Lighting Ceremony. Carolers from PS 150 and the Sunnyside Drum Corps provided music while families joined together and enjoyed hot chocolate and the holiday spirit.
The Summer Strolls series, hosted by the Sunnyside Shines Business Improvement District is back for 2015 and the organizers are looking for volunteers setting up and breaking down the events starting at 10 a.m. each event day.
The events are:
On Aug. 1 from 2-6 p.m. – celebrate the Kids Art Fair in partnership with ReCreate Queens feauturing free hands-on arts and crafts for kids of all ages, plus family-friendly performances all day long.
On Aug. 8 from 2-7 p.m. – honor 1920s-era jazz legend Bix Biederbecke with a memorial jazz concert. Performances by the Sunnyside Social Club, Sunnyside Wolverines, Sunnyside Drum Corps and the Street Beat Brass Band. The Bix Biederbecke Sunnyside Memorial Committee will charm the crowd with Bix trivia, and local businesses will offer giveaways.
