The Woodside community honored the life of late civic activist Dorothy Neary over the weekend with a street re-naming ceremony.
Neary spent more than eight decades improving and advocating for a better quality of life for her neighborhood. She passed away in 2014 at the age of 94.
She was a former director and longtime newsletter editor for the United Forties Civic Association. Neary was also involved with the St. Teresa’s Rosary Society, Community Board 2 and the Girl Scouts.
Her daughter, Patricia Neary Boyd, attended the ceremony.
“Keep engaged with your community, get out there, go to everything,” Boyd said. “Please stay involved. This community is great.”
